Escaping From Reality

Between mommy-hood, a full-time job, wifely duties, and attempting to stay awake long enough to have a social life of sorts, I get run down.
I'm the first to admit it - even if I spend the days surrounded by an adorable son and a supportive husband, great friends and a close family....I get run down.
I get tired.
I get cranky.
I feel overwhelmed, and stressed about life, and the cards I've been dealt.

In recent weeks, I've definitely been feeling overwhelmed. Work has been stressful, I've been trying to eat healthier (which takes more time), working out (which also takes more time), and adjusting to the changes that come with my husband being reduced to part-time at work.

....and then, a little light shone bright.

A friend asked me if I'd like to play in a softball tournament at the coast.
Softball is my escape. Since the age of 9, I can remember summers filled with long hot days of softball games, screaming fans, and teammates that turned into more of a family. The sport became second nature to me, and the memories were almost always fond. I went on to play softball all the way through high school and into college, and still play slow-pitch softball today.

This weekend was just what I needed. I played with nine other amazing girls, some new friends, and some old. We took 4th place in the "Banana Belt" tournament in Brookings, Oregon. If that wasn't impressive enough, we sported large neon hair bows and tutus.

Life is always better with a tutu.

Now...........I suppose I'm ready to go back to reality.
